Short version: browsing mdvin needs no account and no personal details. An optional free account unlocks Ask mdvin, emailed alerts and cross-device sync. We use Google Analytics to count visits, and we never sell your data.
Almost all of mdvin — the dashboard, screener, charts, operator radar, insider filings, flow and every ticker page — works with no account and no personal information. Your watchlist, paper-trading portfolio, alerts, chosen market (US/Crypto) and onboarding state are then stored only in your browser's local storage. They are never transmitted to us, and clearing your browser data removes them.
A free account is optional, and is required only for Ask mdvin, emailed price alerts, and syncing your watchlist and portfolio across devices. When you register we store your email address, a display name, and your password — hashed with bcrypt, never in readable form. If you sign in with Google we store the Google account identifier instead of a password. Country, phone and a referral code are stored only if you choose to supply them.
While signed in, the items above (watchlist, portfolio, alerts, preferences) are also saved on our server so they follow you between devices. You can delete your account and everything attached to it at any time by emailing hello@mdvin.com, and we will action it.
Ask mdvin is members-only and is limited to 10 questions per account per day; we keep a simple per-account daily counter to enforce that fairly. Your question is sent to our server and to a language model (Google Gemini) solely to compose a reply from mdvin's own public data. We do not store the text of your questions, and the model never sees our database — only the question and an already-built answer. See the disclaimer.
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people find useful. It sets its own cookies and shares aggregate usage data (pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser) with Google as our analytics provider. We do not run advertising networks, we do not sell or share your data with data brokers, and we do not use analytics to identify you personally. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on, or by blocking cookies for this site.
Our web server also keeps standard access logs (IP address, page, timestamp) for security and reliability. Signed-in sessions use a token stored in your browser, not a tracking cookie.
Wherever you live — and specifically if you are in the United States (including under California's CCPA/CPRA) or Canada (PIPEDA) — you may ask us what personal data we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@mdvin.com and we will respond. We do not sell personal information.
Market data comes from public sources (exchange feeds, SEC filings, market-data providers). News links lead to third-party sites governed by their own policies.
